How do I clip my dogs toenails?

i'm afraid i may hurt him because I heard you have to be extra careful .......... i have a miniture pinchserHow do I clip my dogs toenails?
You can talk to your vet or go to a groomer and ask them to show you how. That will be easier then trying to tell you on here.

Here is a great site to look at.How do I clip my dogs toenails?
dog clippers..... DONT cut to close, by cutting to close, you can hit the nerve and they can bleed to death....just cut below the PINK in the nail, dont cut close to the pink part of the nail..and do it fast, dont be scared its a easy thing to handle....good luck
you definately don't want to cut them too close, they have nerves in their nails so you have to make sure you don't cut down that far
doggie nail clippers,,,better yet take him to a dog groomer
take it to a vet to do it professionally
CAREFULLY. Hold his paw tightly and you might want to put a muzzle on him so he doesn't get really pissed off at you. Somepeople swear by dog clippers. Don't cut the ';QuicK'; which is like the white part at the beginning of your nail. Have some treats HANDY it might help too. Good luck,
use dog nail trimmers and justs clip the tips if u go to far you reach the blood source and will hurt them so clip the tip where u see light color if its getting to a dark ur too close!!! hope this helps and be careful!! u can also take them to the vet to do it for around 5.00-9.00$
well, if you cut a dogs nails to deep, they will start bleeding. if your dog has light nails, cut upto the pink/red part, thats where the blood is. i'm not sure about dark nails, maybe you should file them.........lol ask a vet im not too sure about dark nails.
get a groomer to do it
since all his nails are black you cant see the quick, so just take the very tip the first time. wait a week and take a tiny bit more. then wait 2 weeks and take a bit more. after that clip every month. use human clippers by holding them sideways. ( the big kind)
yes you must be very careful their are nerves in the claws. they sell special clippers at pet stores or just take it to be clipped at the groomers.
i would get the vet to do it when you go once a year for the dogs vaccinations
well it kinda depends how big he or she is my dogs wont sit still so i go to petsmart and have them do it. or you can go and buy clippers @ a pet store and do it your self your just put its toenail tingy lol thru the lil hole and just clip but dont go down to far or it will bleed
if your dogs nails are really over grown what you want to do is just tip them. if your clippers have a guard on them, use that and just tip them every two weeks, the nerve running through his nail will resede with each cutting. if you try to take to much to soon, you will bleed him. if he is snitty about having his nails trimmed, have someone standing near with a treat to distract him. min pins are tough and have attitude and think they are running the whole show. ~ good luck
