My husband notice his toenail was turning almost black and he does not know what is the cause and cure for this problem. Also does anyone know what type of doctor specialises in this field? Serious answers only as I am truly concerned over this.
Thanks anyone who has knowledge or similar situation who can share and help. What Are Causes For Darken Toenails?
I suppose the toe has not been hit badly lately. In that case : is your husband diabetic by any chance? Or does he present symptoms pointing to diabetes? (Constant thirst and hunger- multiple urinating, unfocused vision) If yes he should see an endocrinologist ASAP, to stabilize his diabetes and treat what COULD be the onset of diabetic gangrene. If not this could be a mycotic infestation of the toenail and you should apply antimycotic cream, and an amidazol based powder or spray. What Are Causes For Darken Toenails?
Go to a Chiropodist, it probably is a fungal infection. They will tell you if they can treat it or whether to go to the doctor and get antibiotics.
It's somekinda tumour or cancer type critter. I saw it on TV, half of the toenail has become black ... there was lots of blood under it ... I didn't saw the treatment part, but it was told to be very serious!
may be some fungal infection
sounds like nail fungus,,,he needs to see a dermatologist
