In the beginning of the year I noticed a little black mark underneath my toenail on my big toe. This past weekend I noticed that the black mark is half the size of a dime. My toe doesn't hurt at all. Not even when I cut my toenail. I can apply pressure on it and no pain whatsoever. But what is happening? Is my toenail dying? Is that how it starts? Do I need to see a foot doctor? Please help. The last thing I want is to walk around in sandals and people asking me, ';Is that black nail polish on your big toe?'; I'd really like to get rid of this black mark. Is there any medication I can take? The black mark is not on my toenail (i.e. on the surface of my nail) or in the middle of my toenail. This thing is on top of the ';meat'; of my toe and my actual nail!
BTW- It's my right big toenail. And it's the only one that looks like it's dying. The other 9 toenails look healthy as can be.
HEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!What's happening to my big toenail?
Sounds like toenail fungus to me.
Go to your Doc, he will give you a prescription to clear this up.
It takes like 6 months to clear up thoughWhat's happening to my big toenail?
Did you ever hit your nail or drop anything on it ?
Usually if something had dropped on it, it broke the blood vessels and making a bruise. ( under your nail )
there is no where for the bruise to go so it grows out with the growth of the nail. Once it gets to the edge of the nail, and you can kinda pick out the dead dry blood, then that's what it probably was.
Other than that, Im not sure what it could be.
it might be a fungus and you should see a dr. just to make sure. im sure it's something your family doc can treat.
