Fungal infections are common on both fingernails and toenails. Toenail fungus also known as onychomycosis is caused by a group of fungus called dermatophytes. These fungus are harmful because as they grow they feed on the keratin that makes up the surface of the toe nail. The two fingers that are more likely to be affected are the big toe finger and the little toe finger. Toe nail fungus causes disfiguration and discoloration of the nails. It is a contagious disease and some times it may be hereditary. I however used to swim in High School and had a case of it from using the showers at school. EWW I know. However because I was sooo embarrassed by it, I did not want to go to the DOC and get the way expensive Lamisil tablets. My uncle, who served in Iraq said that when they would get foot fungus they would soak their feet in LISTERINE every nite after they showered. Took about a week to clear it up completely. They said it worked so well they did it once a week after the infection cleared up for ';preventive maintenance';. Good luck!
who ever you are can you please just trust me in saying this...go to the doctor! he will give the quickest and best way to get rid of the fungus.
Soak your feet in alcohol; it cures everything.
